The artist

Kim Bezuidenhout

Hi, I'm Kim.

22 years ago I signed up to be a stay-at-home mom. 5 years ago I signed up to be an artist.

Finding out I could actually paint changed everything for me. It gave me purpose.

We moved to a more isolated place, and suddenly it was just me, the quiet, and a blank canvas. At first painting was just my hobby. My way to breathe in the chaos of mom life. Then friends started saying "you should sell that." Then one person bought a piece. Then another. And before I knew it, my little hobby turned into a full art career.

I'm self-taught, passionate about art, and completely in love with bold color. I work in oil paint as well as acrylic paint on canvas, layering saturated colour and leaving the brushwork alive. I love art that pops and art that makes you smile. I paint portraits with attitude, wildlife with personality, and everyday moments that deserve to be looked at twice.

My work has been shown in local galleries and found homes with collectors all over South Africa. I also run art workshops because I'm convinced everyone needs 10 minutes of "look closer" in their week.

I believe art isn't about perfection. It's about presence. It's about color that's a little too loud and stories that are a little too honest.

Thanks for being here and looking closer with me.

Process & materials

Oil & acrylic

Kim works in oil and acrylic on canvas, layering saturated colour and leaving brushwork visible so each painting keeps its energy.

Bold colour first

Colour leads every decision. Familiar animals become vivid, contemporary compositions built from unexpected pinks, teals and yellows.

Originals only

Every artwork shown on this site is an original painted by Kim in her Northern Cape studio — no prints and no reproductions.
